Void Field documents the moment before a reaction-diffusion system reaches equilibrium — an instant of maximum tension between the spreading activation and the original void. The Depth series explores systems that eat themselves into stillness.

A reaction-diffusion system initialized with a void-state seed — all cells set to minimum activation except a single 3×3 disturbance at center. The system ran for 18,000 iterations. The final state was captured at the moment of maximum gradient tension, when the diffusion front meets the original void boundary. Post-process: tonal compression to collapse the midrange, hand-darkened edges.
